Wedding and Event planning Tips

Planning the Event

When planning your event is always handy to have a copy of all your arrangements, create a spread sheet or word document and update it as often as possible, it is also fun to have a small journal to take with you at all times, you might hear of a place, person or item that would be perfect for your event, then by the time you get home you have forgotten it. Good places to get information from is wedding forums, you can share tips and ask questions and make friends with people who are doing the same thing as you, two I would recommend are www.hitched.co.uk and www.confeti.co.uk .

It is nice to look back on all you’re planning notes once the event has passed. The planning of the event should be shared so do some delegation and get other people to help with the phoning or sourcing for the event. I would also suggest you check with any event venue if you are aloud your accessories, I know now that a lot of hotels do not now allow chocolate fountains because of the mess, candles are another point, even down to the use of metallic confetti on the venue grounds, always check and get a written agreement from them of what you are allowed.

The Right Theme

To achieve a theme you must decide firstly what you would like to have, then draw from a main design and follow it threw on to your other stationery items, ones that we have done are butterflies, flowers, colours, James Bond, quiz night, devils and angels, beach, and more, remember you do not have to have the same design on everything just pick aspects of the design such as colour and work it in as required Your chosen colours can make your event a remembered one, by keeping the actual table clean and crisp you can add all your colour by using your accessories, here is a list of things you might want to use to bring in the colour accent.

Table cloths, Place Cards, candles, flowers, fairy lights, mirrors, table stones, coloured glass nuggets, petals, confetti, theme accessories, favours, ribbons, wine glass charms, fine glitter, vase lights, bubbles or even coloured gel water.

Using your Space

Space can be an important aspect of your table planning, round , square or rectangle tables can all look their best by changing the size of your accessories it can create a more balanced look to your table, if you have went over the top accessorising and have no room left, try combining certain stationery aspects together, for example place cards which have a table number on them, or menu choices on the reverse, you could also add small tags instead of cards and they can tied to your favours using your matching ribbon combining colour and practicality.

www. it

The best tool you can have today for creating your event is the internet, you can source items or view images of other events, it is like being in a shopping centre with out the stress For today’s busy society buying products for any event is only a click away at any time of the day, by using this powerful tool it can be so easy to pick up those bargains you need when you are on a budget. Two we found are www.ebay.co.uk and www.amazon.co.uk, but there is more and more cropping up every day, don’t be put off by the words auction site, many reputable shops now sell via these sites, and sell quality products. We would suggest that you check the feedback they have had to see what others have said.

The Right Font

The use of font styles can be a very important part of the creation of a table, for formal affairs it is best to have a clear and bold font that your guests can see easily when approaching their seat, for the more relaxed affair it is nice to try and use a more elegant script font that will create a flowing look to your table, use of menus, table numbers and place cards to give you that look, and lastly for the

Personalise it

The personal touch always looks excellent on tables, by adding a guest name to an item such as a wine glass, favour box, place cards and table Numbers always makes the guest feel they have been thought about as an individual not group.

Seating Arrangements

Seating is also a very important factor with any event, what you need think about is mixing up certain types of people you know will get on, there is nothing worse than a quiet table an event, so why not add two couples that know each other and they can get the ball rolling, small table games can also beak the ice. Sorting your event table plan can be tricky at the best of times, so move people about until you are satisfied there is a good balance, table plans should be clean and crisp and can also incorporate your chosen theme if required, it is also nice to have a mini plan at the bottom of each table so guests can check when being seated.

Remembering the Day

Remembering the day is essential, in the case of weddings they are always over too soon, so try and get as much information to remember the day as possible, the use of disposable cameras added to the evening tables is a prime example, setting up a digital video of guests sending their good wishes , also a guestbook located where guests can write their wishes to the new couple, I would suggest you pass it round the tables then you are sure to get everyone.

Creating a scrapbook of the event with all the occasion nick knacks, and photos, is time well spent, adding all this information together you are guaranteed you will catch the true feelings of the day, and not miss a thing.

Entertainment

Entertainment can make or break and event, weddings especially, while you are getting changed or signing the register your guests are at a loose end waiting for the next stage of the wedding to commence, it is not just enough to assume they will all mingle, remembering to have entertainment can make your guests feel less inclined to look at the time and mix with each other.

The top ones we have researched are magicians, string quartets, pianist, and table games, outside games, bands, children’s entertainment, puppet shows, balloon makers, comedians and Caricatured.

Saying Thank you

When the event is over you must make sure you show your guests that you appreciated them coming along, because at the end of the day no guests no event, so by giving favours, lottery cards, scratch cards, miniatures, fortune cookies, traditional sweets, seeds for planting, sweets in the balloon boxes, kids goodie bags or even just a simple thank you is perfect for showing them it was appreciated.
